Joy Riders exists to enhance
the joy of bicycling for the casual rider and to encourage spiritual growth in one another. This may be someone who
rides as little as once or twice a year, or someone who rides much more often. If you are primarily interested in long
distance or competitive riding, you are more than welcome at Joy Riders even though our current focus is on the casual/recreational
rider.
BENEFITS
-
Joy Riders members get together
for rides each month that would be considered "Leisure Rides." This means they are traveled at a leisurely pace
and may be only 5-12 miles long for mountain biking, or 10-25 miles for road biking. On special occasions, longer rides
may be planned. On all leisure rides, the group will make sure someone rides with the last rider and regular stops occur for
breaks.
-
During the year we have lunch
meetings at Panera Bread where a variety of topics may be discussed such as bike repair/maintenance,
nutrition, exercise, safety, etc.. We spend time planning rides and/or special events and discuss ways to reach
out to others. Part of the meeting includes reviewing CORE24 verses and taking time for prayer,
share, and care.
- The club newsletter is available
to all members and guests online. Volunteers organize the various columns of the newsletter. A "Members Only" area is available
that has a membership directory, member news, and minutes of the meetings.
-
Finally, spiritual growth is desired in all members
and ride guests. We develop this by getting to know each other, encouraging each other in our Christian
life by meditating and memorization of "GRIPS" (great rides include pondering scripture), and by inviting others to ride with
us both now and forever.
